From Tim Atkin’s Master of Wine report onwards to the Michelangelo - and Veritas- Awards, Lord’s is at the top of its game!
South Africa, McGregor- October 2018 -Lord’s Wines triumphed at the most prestigious awards and competed on a local and international level, getting very high scores on both.
The Lord’s Wines MCC’s scored top honours in the Tim Atkin Master of Wine Report 2018, with a score of 92 for the Lord’s MCC Brut NV and a score 93 for the Lord’s MCC Brut Rosé NV.
Lord’s Wines’ success was emulated at other competitions including a Double Gold medal for MCC Brut NV at the Michelangelo Awards 2018.
At the Veritas Awards 2018, the Lord’s MCC Brut and Brut Rosé both won a Gold medal. There were only 5 Gold medals achieved in the MCC Brut Rosé category and no Double Gold medal. This goes to show that Lord’s is at the top of its game.
Lord's Wines was established in 2006 when viticulturist, Jacie Oosthuizen, took his love for cricket and wine and named the cellar after the Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
High up on the northern slopes of the mountains surrounding Robertson, in the lush McGregor valley, you will stumble across a gravel road that will lead you on the road to nowhere. At the end of this striking rainbow, you will find Lord’s Wines, cradled amidst Fynbos and Proteas. At 500m above sea level, where the vineyards are the highest in the Robertson Valley, a breathtaking panoramic view made the call to establish Lord’s.
After 12 years Lord’s decided to add a new tasting room that will also be a wedding venue in the new year. The construction of this project will be completed by the end of 2018 and the grand opening will follow with an extravagant evening filled with great food, multi-award winning wines and live entertainment.
