Robertson Wine Valley

Voted SA’s 2nd favourite wine route in 2008*, the Robertson Wine Valley is one of South Africa’s most exciting wine routes.  It is home to the fabulous Wacky Wine Weekend – attracting thousands of fans making the annual wine pilgrimage to the valley. It is also host to the Robertson Wine on the River festival – taking place on the banks of the Breede river. And amongst its members the region boasts with some of South Africa’s top wine brands. Best of all, everything still is pretty uncommercialised!

In 2009, the Robertson Wine Valley received the Most Innovative Wine Tourism Experience award from the Great Wine Capitals of the World. The prize was awarded for the Robertson Wine Valley's four annual festivals they host, attracting thousands of visitors to the valley. These visitors can look forward to country hospitality, world-class wines with fantastic value at all price points and great value almost every day of the year!

HISTORY

The Robertson Wine Valley was founded in 1983 and currently consists of 59 members in the towns of Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson, 52 of these, being wineries. No wonder wine tasting is in the order of the day when visiting the Robertson Wine Valley. Our friendly staff will guide you on this journey, whether you are an experienced wine taster, or exploring the world of wine for the first time. And to compliment this, other activities include river rafting, game drives, bird watching, cheese and olive tasting, hiking, horse back riding and so much more. So we’d like to invite you to come experience our valley for yourself – you will definitely return for more!”
